So, um, how did you, how did you start the bakery?
Well, I I started in 2019 with, uh, one oven and my friend Marco Bell Lucci. The first year was really hard.
Edited Corrected, laid out, with headings and a summary. Nothing added.
How it started
So, how did you start the bakery?
Well, I started in 2019 with one oven and my friend Marco Bellucci. The first year was really hard.
The names you type in fix the spelling: “Marco Bell Lucci” becomes “Marco Bellucci”.
Get the recording off your phone
iPhone Voice Memos. Open Voice Memos and tap the recording. Tap the three dots, then Share, then Save to Files. You now have an M4A file in the Files app.
Android recorder apps. Each phone maker has its own recorder, but most work the same way: open the recording, tap Share and send the audio file itself, not a link or the text. Save it to your files or cloud storage, or email it to yourself. The file is usually M4A or MP3.
WhatsApp voice notes. On iPhone, touch and hold the voice note, tap Forward, then the share icon, then Save to Files. On Android, touch and hold the voice note, then tap Share. WhatsApp and Telegram voice notes are OPUS or OGG files; both work as they are.
Then open this page on your phone and tap Choose a file, or move the file to your computer and drop it into the upload box.
M4A, MP3 and other formats
No conversion needed. MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC, OGG, OPUS and FLAC go in as they are, and so do videos such as MP4 and MOV, up to 3 hours or 2 GB per file. The language is detected automatically, from more than 90.
Recordings that transcribe well
- Keep the phone close to whoever is speaking: distance and background noise raise the error rate.
- One voice at a time. Where people talk over each other, the error rate goes up.
- For meetings, put the phone in the middle of the table, tell us how many people speak, and type up to 60 names and terms to get them spelled right.
One price per file
$8.90 covers one file of up to 3 hours, whatever its length: a 5-minute memo costs the same as a 2-hour meeting. That makes long recordings the best value. If you have dozens of short voice notes every week, a subscription app will probably cost you less.
A recorded conversation with two or three people? See interview transcription. A class or a talk? See lecture transcription.

Questions and answers
Do I have to convert M4A or MP3 files first?
No. MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC, OGG, OPUS, FLAC and more go in as they are, up to 3 hours or 2 GB per file.
Can I upload straight from my phone?
Yes. Open this page in your phone's browser, tap Choose a file and pick the recording. On iPhone, save a voice memo to the Files app first, as described on this page.
Is this live voice typing?
No. Dettalo transcribes recordings you have already made: record with your phone, then upload the file. A 1-hour recording is usually ready in about 10 minutes, and we email you when it is.
Can you transcribe WhatsApp voice notes?
Yes. Save the voice note as a file (an OPUS or OGG file) and upload it. Each voice note is a separate file and a separate order at $8.90, so this pays off for long voice notes rather than many short ones.
What if the wrong language is detected?
The preview shows the language we detected. If it's wrong, pick the right one and the preview runs again. More than 90 languages are supported.
How long do you keep my recording?
If you don't order, the upload is deleted after 24 hours. After an order, the audio is deleted after 7 days and the transcripts after 60 days, or everything at once if you ask for a refund.
